The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin announced on March 30 that Millikin junior outfielder Charley Condill has been named the Softball Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance during recent non-conference games. Carthage sophomore pitcher Anais Fernandez was also recognized as Pitcher of the Week.
Condill, from Arthur, Illinois, earned Hitter of the Week honors after batting .769 across four games. In a doubleheader against Illinois College, she went 5-for-6 with four runs scored and five stolen bases. Her efforts contributed to Millikin’s overall record improving to 10-9 as they prepare for conference play.
Fernandez led Carthage to a win over No. 15 Wisconsin-Whitewater by pitching a complete game and allowing two earned runs on eight hits over seven innings. This marked her second win of the season.
The announcement also included a list of previous weekly honorees for both hitter and pitcher categories throughout March. Other schools represented include Wheaton, North Park, North Central, Carroll, and Carthage.
Founded in 1946, the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin currently includes nine member institutions: Augustana College, Carroll University, Carthage College, Elmhurst University, Illinois Wesleyan University, Millikin University, North Central College, North Park University and Wheaton College.
