FOIA Request to City of Macon Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.

As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at the Macon Reporter have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Macon. Our request seeks detailed records of businesses registered with the city over the past week. Specifically, we are requesting information that includes the business name, business number, business type, business address, issued date, status, and registered agent name.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage that holds public institutions accountable and ensures transparency for our readers. Access to these public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities as members of the media.

We are also affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. This collaboration aims to illuminate government actions and better inform the American electorate.

We believe this request aligns with our role in disseminating important information to the public and are hopeful for a prompt response from the City of Macon.
