FOIA Request to City of Maroa Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Macon Reporter have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Maroa. The request seeks detailed records of businesses registered with the city over the past week. Specifically, we are requesting information that includes the business name, business number, business type, business address, issued date, status, and registered agent name.

Our role as media professionals involves gathering and reporting news to the public while holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. Access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill these responsibilities effectively. Given our position in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

Additionally, this request is supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. This collaboration aims to enhance transparency and inform the American electorate about government actions.

We look forward to receiving the requested information promptly and will continue our efforts to provide insightful coverage on local governmental activities.
