H-1B Insights: Employers in Macon Reporter publication area file 138 petitions throughout 2024

Employers based in the Macon Reporter publication area submitted 138 H-1B petitions during 2024, according to data provided by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services via the H-1B Employer Data Hub. All of these petitions were approved.

The H-1B visa program allows U.S. employers to temporarily hire foreign workers in specialty occupations requiring specialized knowledge and at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. The Manufacturing industry led the H-1B filings locally during 2024, with 114 petitions (82.6% of all submissions), and an approval rate of 100%. Meanwhile, the Health Care and Social Assistance industry was the second largest contributor, filing 11 petitions (8% of the total), with an approval rate of 100%.

The Macon Reporter publication area employers with the most petitions during 2024 included Archer Daniels Midland Company, which filed 119 petitions with an approval rate of 100%, Decatur Memorial Hospital with 10 petitions and an approval rate of 100%, and Fuyao Glass Illinois, Inc., which filed three petitions with an approval rate of 100%.

Compared to 2023, the Macon Reporter publication area saw a 40.8% increase in the number of H-1B petitions during 2024.
