Maroa Forsyth Community Unit School District 2 Board of Education met Feb. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Maroa-Forsyth CUSD#2 Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. on February 10th, 2026, in the Maroa-Forsyth High School Library.

Pledge of Allegiance

Edie Appenzeller and Cara Jahraus led the meeting in the pledge as a part of the MFGS student council

Good News

The board recognized the 2025/2026 ILMEA All-State Participants

MFHS Band: Dathan Lidy and Kai McKay.

MFHS Choir: Bianca Giles and Katie Nilles

MFMS Band: Kinsley Lidy

Mrs. Lidy shared information about the festival and the process for selecting students for the ensembles. Congratulations to the students on their accomplishments, as well as Mrs. Lidy and Mr. Weisenborn for their leadership in our music programs.

The board approved the following items in the consent agenda.

Approved the minutes of the regular and closed sessions from January 20th, 2026

Approved the financial report.

Approved the bills as presented.

Approved the destruction of audio of closed session minutes 18 months or older.

Approved the MFHS Senior Trip for March 10th and 11th, 2026

Accepted the resignation of Barbara Hastings, bus driver, effective May 22nd, 2026

Approved hiring Ben Gilbert as MS track coach.

New Business

The board approved the Macon-Piatt Joint Agreement for special education services. Maroa-Forsyth is a member of the special education co-op along with other districts in Macon and Piatt counties. They provide administrative oversight, assist with federal grant support, offer some related services, and provide alternative placements for students based on their needs.

The first reading of Press Policies in Issue 120 was presented as follows: 120: 4:10, 4:30, 4:80, 5:10, 5:90, 5:200, 5:220, 5:300, 6:20, 6:40, 6:60, 6:130, 6:300, 6:310, 6:315, 7:10, 7:70, 7:150, 7:180, 7:190, 7:290, 7:315. These policies were reviewed by the policy committee and are recommended for approval. Board members were given policy packets to review and were asked to reach out to the committee or Mr. Ibbotson with any questions.

Mr. Ibbotson presented to the board information on flexible start and stop times for the Maroa and Forsyth Campuses. This same information will be presented to both campuses on Friday, 2/13/26

Two additional dual credit classes were approved for the 2026-2027 course guide at MFHS. They are Music 100/Music Appreciation and CIS 110 Business Computer Applications. Both of these classes are already in our course guide, but not as dual credit options. They will be taught by our MFHS instructors.

A food service cooperative agreement was approved with Northern Illinois Independent Purchasing Cooperative (NIIPC). This cooperative was recommended to the district by our ISBE consultant to help lower district food costs by leveraging the cooperative’s group buying power.

Principal Board Reports –these were presented to the board for review.

IASB Liaison – Report – regional meetings are being scheduled for the spring

Executive Session

The board entered into executive session pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), (2), and (11) to discuss personnel, collective bargaining, and pending or probable litigation

Collective Bargaining Agreement

The board unanimously approved the collective bargaining agreement between the Maroa-Forsyth CUSD#2 BOE and MFEA, effective for 26-27, 27-28, and 28-29 school years.

The meeting was then adjourned.
