The Millikin men’s golf team is in third place after the first day of the Dan Salisbury Memorial Classic, according to a March 23 announcement. The tournament is being hosted by the University of Illinois-Springfield at Red Tail Run in Decatur, Illinois.
The event holds significance for Millikin as it takes place close to home and features two teams from the university. One Big Blue squad posted a team score of 290 during round one, trailing behind NCAA Division II teams from the host school and Quincy, who are tied for first with scores of 286.
Jack Bollinger led Millikin with an individual score of 69, followed by Jake Krstulovich with a 71. Luke Butler contributed a 74 and Luke Bradley finished with a 76 to complete the team’s scoring on day one. On another Millikin squad participating in the tournament, Martin Ammeux and Dominck Emig each shot a round-one score of 75.
The competition will continue at Red Tail Run on Tuesday, March 24 as teams return for day two of play.
