Millikin men’s tennis secures first conference win in Chicago matches

Millikin University’s men’s tennis team earned its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) victory of the season during a pair of matches in Chicago on March 18.

The team faced Judson University in their opening match, where Gillian Nahum was the only Millikin player to secure a win, defeating Brayden Kopp at No. 1 singles in three sets: 3-6, 7-6, 1-0.

In their second match against Elmhurst University, Millikin achieved a decisive 7-0 victory to start CCIW play with a win. In doubles competition, Thomas Tartari and Matthew Kordesh won at No. 1 doubles with a score of 6-1 over Santiago Hurtado and Adrian Songco. Jorge Aura and Nils Fischer followed with a win at No. 2 doubles, defeating Isaac Puchalla and Caden Sultzbaugh by a score of 6-3.

Singles play saw strong performances from the Big Blue. Kordesh won at No. 1 singles with two sets of 6-0. Aura claimed victory at No. 2 singles with scores of 6-0 and 6-2. Fischer secured the No. 3 singles spot by winning both sets 6-0, while Elijah Aumann finished off the sweep at No. 4 singles with set scores of 7-6 (7-2) and 7-5.

The team is scheduled to return to action on March 25 when they travel to St. Louis, Missouri for matches against Missouri Baptist University and Webster University.
