Millikin University’s men’s tennis team completed its regular season on April 24 with a match against Wheaton College, where they swept all three doubles matches but ultimately lost the contest.
The result marks the end of the regular season for Millikin as they now prepare for postseason play. The team’s performance in doubles demonstrated strong teamwork and skill, providing momentum heading into the conference tournament.
In doubles action, Matthew Kordesh and Harry Masterman secured a win at No. 1 by defeating Andrew Winters and Andrew Jang 6-3. At No. 2, Gillian Nahum and Thomas Tartari won decisively over David Hill and Toby Schmidt with a score of 6-0. Eduardo Vargas and Nils Fischer clinched a close victory at No. 3 against Corin Tang and Ryder Ward, finishing 7-5.
On the singles side, Gillian Nahum earned Millikin’s only singles point by beating Andrew Jang at No. 2 singles with scores of 7-5, 6-0.
Looking ahead, Millikin will participate in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tournament starting Thursday, April 30 at Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington, Illinois. The team’s seed for the tournament has yet to be determined.
The conclusion of regular season play sets up an important week for Millikin as they aim to build on their doubles success during postseason competition.
