The Millikin Big Blue men’s tennis team won a narrow 4-3 victory over Carroll University on April 11 during their trip to Wisconsin.

This win is significant as it brings Millikin’s record to an even 2-2 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play, with an overall season record of 13-5. The match was closely contested, especially in doubles play where Carroll took the doubles point despite a win from Gillian Nahum and Jorge Aura at No. 1 doubles with a score of 6-4. Matthew Kordesh and Harry Masterman lost their No. 2 doubles match in a tight contest, falling 5-7.

In singles competition, Millikin made a comeback. Nahum won his No. 1 singles match against Andrew LaBelle by scores of 6-2 and 6-3. Eduardo Vargas added another point for the Big Blue at No. 3 singles with two sets of 6-3 over Ulrik Gellein. Aura came back after losing his first set to defeat Felix Prsson at No. 4 singles, winning by scores of 2-6, 6-3, and 6-4. Masterman clinched the deciding point for Millikin at No.5 singles with a victory over Nate Christensen, finishing with scores of 7-5 and 6-4.

With this result, Millikin continues its season momentum as they prepare for their next road match against Augustana in Rock Island on Wednesday, April 15.

The outcome may influence conference standings as both teams continue through the remainder of the season.
