The Millikin University softball team achieved its third consecutive doubleheader sweep by defeating DePauw University 11-4 and 4-2 on April 8 at the Workman Family Softball Field in Decatur, Illinois.

The wins continue a strong run for the Big Blue, who have built momentum with multiple victories in recent matchups. The results reflect consistent offensive production and solid pitching performances from the team.

In the first game, Ann Marie Meek started the scoring with a double that brought Charley Condill home. Meek later scored on a passed ball to give Millikin an early lead. Haley Willan contributed a two-run double in the third inning, while Abbey Matthews added an RBI single as part of a five-run effort by Millikin. Despite DePauw’s efforts to close the gap—including a home run from Ella Kuenster and a two-RBI single by Emily DuMais—the Big Blue extended their lead in later innings with key hits from Matthews and Condill before closing out game one.

Willan led Millikin at the plate going three-for-four, while Condill, Meek, Wynn, and Matthews each recorded two hits. Alyssa Dralle earned the win as pitcher with six strikeouts in a complete game performance.

Game two saw Summer Wynn drive in Condill with an early double before DePauw tied it up through Avery Welsh’s groundout. Millikin regained control when Meek doubled home Abby Willis and Kailyn Coates hit a two-run homerun for additional insurance runs. Abby Wilken took over pitching duties for game two and struck out five batters en route to victory.

Looking ahead, Millikin softball is scheduled to play another College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin doubleheader on April 11 against Elmhurst in Elmhurst, Illinois.
