City of Clinton City Council met July 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Minutes of the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Clinton, Illinois in session in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Monday, July 1, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Acting Mayor Tom Edmunds, presiding. On roll call, Commissioners Ballenger, Edmunds, Buchanan and Wise were present. Mayor Cyrulik was absent.

Written motion was made by Commissioner Ballenger and seconded by Commissioner Wise that the minutes of the regular meeting of June 17, 2019 be approved as submitted. On roll call vote, Commissioners Edmunds, Buchanan, Wise and Ballenger voted “Yes”.

The bills and payroll were read.

Written motion was made by Commissioner Wise and seconded by Commissioner Ballenger that the bills and payroll be allowed as read and the Clerk be instructed to issue warrants on the Treasurer for the several amounts. On roll call vote, Commissioners Buchanan, Wise, Ballenger and Edmunds voted “Yes”.

PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS

None

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Written motion was made by Commissioner Ballenger and seconded by Commissioner Buchanan to appoint Clarence Blessing to the Fire & Police Commission - said term to expire May 1, 2022. On roll call vote, Commissioners Wise, Ballenger, Edmunds and Buchanan voted “Yes”.

Mayor Cyrulik was absent but would like for everyone to attend the 4th of July Celebrate Clinton on the Square with a breakfast being served by the Fire & Police departments and a Dunk Tank with some of the city employees participating will also take place along with other activities.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STREETS & PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS

Commissioner Buchanan reported the Vouchers are still available until the end of July to take items to the Landfill Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 6th 6:00 a.m. – Noon. He also stated that the Ordinance for brush pick-up is being looked at and he wanted to assure the citizens the City is not going to stop picking up brush the guidelines just need to be adjusted.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC PROPERTY

Commissioner Wise reported the Tour DeWitt was held on Saturday, June 29th with almost 200 riders and Steve Lobb does a great job organizing this event, which raises money for the Child Protection Network.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY

Commissioner Ballenger had no report.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTS & FINANCES

Commissioner Edmunds had no report.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Written motion was made by Commissioner Ballenger and seconded by Commissioner Wise to approve the Purchase of Kontrol 4-4 (55 Gallon Drum) and Altosid XR (220 per case) for the Zoning Dept. from Univar in the amount of $2,622.40. On roll call vote, Commissioners Ballenger, Edmunds, Buchanan and Wise voted “Yes”.

NEW BUSINESS

None

ADJOURNMENT

With no further business to come before the Council, a motion was made by Commissioner Ballenger and seconded by Commissioner Buchanan to adjourn the meeting. On roll call vote, Commissioners Edmunds, Buchanan, Wise and Ballenger voted “Yes”.
