Motion made by Mary Jo Rowley to accept the corrected meeting minutes for the August 14, 2024 meeting. Seconded by Chris Kopeika. Motion carried on voice vote; all members present voting yea.

Old Business

Chapters 5 – 13 of Serving Our Public 4.0: Standards for IL Public Libraries were discussed fulfilling the Capita Grant Requirements.

New Business

Librarian’s Report

• FPL Saturday hours will be changing effective October 1st to 9 AM – 1 PM to better use our resources and fit patron needs. Melanie’s goal is to have a Saturday program weekly in 2025.

• FPL staff is working on the barcode duplication process.

• Melanie attended the Association of Small and Rural Libraries Conference September 11-13 in Springfield, MA. She learned many new things to share with our library.

• Hickory Point Fire Protection District brought a fire truck to Story Time with Miss Kelsey. A huge crowd was in attendance. Story Time is every Friday at 10 AM.

• Community Watch, Next of Kiln Holiday Ornament Class, Diabetes Meal Planning, and Nightmare of Elwood Street Halloween Party are some of the programs for October.

• Patron card registration as of August 31 includes 1,379 adults and 143 juveniles. The August 2024 patron count is 3,356 which is 543 more than August 2023. Circulation for August 2024 is 4,247 which is 467 less than August 2023. Materials checked out by Non-Forsyth Patrons is 1,674. Materials checked out by Forsyth Patrons at other libraries is 180.

The next library commission meeting is scheduled for October 23, 2024. Mary Jo Rowley moved to adjourn. Ken Kirchner seconded. The motion carried on voice vote; all members present voting yea.
