Sangamon Valley Community Unit School District 9 Board of Education met July 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to Order

President Stephanie Guerrero called the July meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Board members present were: Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  Absent: Josh Hilbert.

Administration

Also present: Superintendent Bob Meadows

Pledge to the Flag

Mr. Meadows led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Executive Session

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to enter closed session at 6:03 p.m. for the reasons stated on the agenda. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Closed Session Adjournment

Jessica Browning moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:15 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Closed Session Minutes

Jeff Stahl moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to accept the closed session minutes as read in closed session. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Resignation

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Amy Gizella as Primary Music Teacher effective immediately. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Resignation

Martha Leeper moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Jacob Short as an At-Will Night Custodian effective June 27, 2023. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Employment

Jessica Browning moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to employ Hailey Pritchett as an At-Will Night Custodian effective July 18, 2023. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Employment

Lori Campbell moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to employ Jasyn Wood as a Volunteer, HS Assistant Football Coach for the 2023-2024 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl. Abstain: Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Consent Agenda

Matt Wood moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Board Policy

Jessica Browning moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to approve the Draft Update of Board Policies: 2:170, 4:45, 4:100, 5:230, and 7:305. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Board Policy

Matt Wood moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to approve the 5 year review of Board Policies 2:80, 2:80-E, 5:170, 6:10, 6:190, 6:240, 7:275, 7:330, 8:25, and 8:95. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Closed Session Minutes

Martha Leeper moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to keep the closed session minutes from January 2023 through June 2023 closed. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Midwest Environmental Consulting Services

Jeff Stahl moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to approve the bid from Midwest Environmental Consulting Services for the AHERA three year re-inspection of all buildings and Asbestos Awareness Training for the maintenance and custodial staff for the amount of $1,500.  Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Henson Robinson

Matt Wood moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to approve the bid from Henson Robinson Company for unit ventilator replacement in the boys and girls locker rooms in Illiopolis for the amount of $36,477.  Roll call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. Abstain: Jessica Browning. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Sentinel

Lori Campbell moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to renew the Sentinel subscription for the 2023-2024 school year at a cost of $19.00 per subscription. Roll call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Village of Harristown

Jeff Stahl moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to allow the Village of Harristown to use the Primary School grounds on Saturday, August 5, 2023 for their rescheduled Independence Day Celebration. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

There will be a Special Board Meeting at 5:30 p.m. on August 9, 2023.

The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for August 9, 2023 at 6 p.m.

Adjournment

Jeff Stahl moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion that the meeting be adjourned at 6:40 p.m.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.
