Sangamon Valley Community Unit School District 9 Board of Education met Sept. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to Order

President Stephanie Guerrero called the October meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Board members present were: Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, Matt Wood. Absent: Jessica Browning.

Administration

Also present: Superintendent Bob Meadows, Sangamon Valley High School Principal Jonathan Field, Sangamon Valley Middle School Principal Jonathan Downing, Sangamon Valley Intermediate School Principal Kristina Sommer, and Sangamon Valley Primary Principal Hilda Rice.

Pledge to the Flag

Mr. Meadows led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Visitors

President Stephanie Guerrero recognized and welcomed the visitors.  Visitors present were Gretchen Cromwell.

Executive Session

Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to enter closed session at 6:02 p.m. for the reasons stated on the agenda. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Closed Session Adjournment

Jeff Stahl moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:24 p.m.  Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Closed Session Minutes

Lori Campbell moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to accept the closed session minutes as read in closed session.  Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Consent Agenda

Martha Leeper moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented.  Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Mr. Meadows discussed the following items with the Board.

2023 Tax Levy

FY 23 Audit

FY 25-27 Bus lease

Food Service RFP

Primary Plumbing Issue

Curriculum Director’s Report

Dr. Field discussed Fall Fastbridge Results. Building Updates were presented to the Board by building principals Mrs. Rice, Mrs. Sommer, Mr. Downing, and Dr. Field.

Tentative Tax Levy

Matt Wood moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution of Tentative Tax Levy for 2023 payable in 2024. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

District Audit

Martha Leeper moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to approve the FY 23 district audit.  Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Fire Alarm

Lori Campbell moved and Martha Leeper seconded the motion to approve the bid from Tech Electronics to replace the fire alarm panel and detection equipment in the MS and Intermediate Buildings for an amount not to exceed $38,497. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.  All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

HS Sign

Matt Wood moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to approve the bid from Bendsen Signs & Graphics to replace the sign at the HS for an amount not to exceed $11,632. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. Nays-Josh Hilbert.  Motion carried.

Facility Use

Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to allow the Sports Boosters to hold their annual Farrell Flatt basketball tournament at the Illiopolis Campus on January 19-21, 2024.  All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Next Regular Meeting is scheduled for November 15, 2023 at 6 p.m.

Adjournment

Jeff Stahl moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion that the meeting be adjourned at 7:15 p.m. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
