Report: Decatur spent $11,099 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Decatur School District 61 is up 2 percent from five years ago, according to a Macon Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Macon County school district spent $10,893 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $11,099 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 8613 to 9104.

Decatur's spending in 2016-17 was 14 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
