Macon home prices rise in 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in 2017 in Macon rose by $23,000 while total sales decreased by 7.7%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2017, there were 24 homes sold, with a median sale price of $80,000 - a 40.4% increase over the $57,000 median sale price for the previous year. There were 26 homes sold in Macon in 2016.

The median sales tax in Macon for 2017 was $1,771. In 2016, the median sales tax was $1,809. This marks an decrease of 2.1%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.2%.
