Many Illinois businesses had May 29 brightly circled on their calendars since it was the day some regions were to enact Phase III of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s “Restore Illinois” plan.
Some gyms, barbershops, shopping malls, parks, bars and restaurants were permitted to open their doors for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Illinois more than two months ago. While establishments can operate again, they must do so with practices to ensure the safety of their employees and clientele.
Masks must be worn and social distancing must be observed at every business to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
At barbershops and hair salons, the worker and the customer both must don masks. Walk-ins are not allowed – if a person wants a haircut, they have to make an appointment.
Every business owner is to complete a checklist of things they must do to maintain a coronavirus-free environment.
