Dewitt County Finance Committee met June 15.
Here is the minutes provided by the committee:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Camille Redman – Chair, David Newberg, Terry Ferguson and Lance Reece. Also, present Dee Rentmeister, County Administrator. Melonie Tilley via teleconference call.
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
SUMMARY OF DISCSSION:
Motion by Newberg, 2nd by Reece to approve last month’s minutes. Voice vote, motion carried.
Motion by Ferguson, 2nd by Tilley to approve the claims. Voice vote, motion carried.
Committee discussed the recommendation from Road & Bridge committee concerning the salary for the County Engineer. The Road & Bridge committee has recommended a 2% increase the first year with the remaining years to be determined annually (5 years). Motion by Ferguson, 2nd by Tilley to recommend to the full board to approve the Resolution Reappointing the County Engineer for a six-year term with the first- year salary increase of 2% with subsequent years to be negotiated. Voice vote, motion carried.
Discussion on possibly offer IMRF Early Retirement Incentive later this fiscal year. Committee was given an actuarial analysis of the potential effect of the early retirement incentive. Sixteen employees would be eligible. Due to the uncertainty in revenues and the possibility of needing to reduce expenditures offering the early retirement could be an option to save money going forward. No action was taken at this time. Committee will look into the figures acknowledging that not all the of the eligible employees would necessarily take the early retirement.
Motion by Tilley, 2nd by Reece to adjourn at 5:33 p.m. Voice vote, motion carried.
