South Wheatland Fire Protection District responded to 38 calls in 2018 - 8.6 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in South Wheatland included 30 fires - 20 structure fires, one vehicle fire and nine other fires.

In all, the department saw $50,000 in fire loss - or about $1,667 per fire.

The department also received eight false calls.

The South Wheatland Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $135,577 in 2018.
