In the face of rising coronavirus cases around the country and in Macon County, Macon County health officials are pleading with schools, churches, and other organizations to hold virtual events for the next couple of months. The plea was made publicly when health officials held a press conference on Monday. According to county health professionals, they will be aiming for a date of January 15 for a return date to live instruction and face-to-face events.
In their press conference, public health officials also asked individuals to be responsible when it comes to Thanksgiving this year, which is sure to be a logistical challenge as Americans look to slow the spread. Public health professionals around the country are very worried about Thanksgiving and are suggesting that it could be a catastrophic infection event, which will undoubtedly impact the older segments of the population heavily.
Macon County employees also took the opportunity to announce new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths, all of which are at concerningly high levels.
