GRACELAND-FAIRLAWN FUNERAL HOME: Patricia Ann Roberts

Graceland-Fairlawn Funeral Home recently issued the following announcement.

Obituary for Patricia Ann Roberts

Patricia Ann Roberts (née Babel) went home peacefully to the Lord on May 9, 2021.

Pat was born in Decatur, Illinois, on January 31, 1934, to Elmer A Babel and his wife Ruth (née Durbin). She was raised by her father and grandmother, Bertha Babel (née Bork).

Patricia graduated Stephen Decatur High School in 1952. She spent her youth studying and performing dance at Millikin University. In later years, she served as a secretary at Lincoln College and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod district office in Springfield. After retirement, she continued to work as a greeter and cashier at Walmart in Mt. Zion.

Patricia had a great joy for the lord and spent much of her time volunteering at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and spreading his love to her neighbors. She loved her family, friends, and pets. She enjoyed the theater, movies, and learning how to play the piano after retirement. Dancing remained her passion and on her last days she was excited at the thought of being able to dance again in Heaven.

Patricia is survived by the family she loved so much: daughters Candice Coburn, Michele Wells (Charles), and Melissa Galindo (Anthony), 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the Decatur Senior Center, Northwest Food Pantry, Millikin University School of Theater and Dance or the School of Nursing.
