Meetingroom02

Village of Bethany Board of Trustee met Dec. 20.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The special board meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by President Jon Book. The following Trustees were present; Dave Doty, Jeannie Ruppert, Mike Jennings, Greg McLain, Raven Allen and Brian Gill.

Public – None

Tax Levy Ordinance #21-801 – This levy was discussed in November. It was questioned as to whether we could add a line item for tort. It would basically pay for insurance/workman’s comp. It could be adjusted quickly, but not sure if we can do it. President Book put a call in to the Village Attorney, Jack Kiley.

We are eligible however it would have to take away from another fund for the Tort fund to stay within the 105%. Mr. Kiley suggested to just do the 5% and put the funds in the General fund since that’s where we pay the insurance from.

A motion was made by Trustee Gill to approve Ordinance #21-801, Tax Levy at 5% for the Village of Bethany, seconded by Trustee Allen. Roll call taken, all ayes, motion carried.

Trustee Jennings asked that we take a closer look at the appropriations and tax levy next year and see if a Tort line item could be added. President Book did thank Trustee Jennings for finding this and bringing it up to the Board.

Trustee Allen asked if the paperwork for the sale of Village property had been completed yet. President Book said he is still working on it.

With no other business to discuss a motion to adjourn was made by Trustee Allen and seconded by Trustee Ruppert. Voice vote taken, all ayes, motion carried. Meeting was adjourned.
