In an Aug. 25 Facebook post, Rep. Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur) announced a new endorsement.
“It is a great honor to receive an endorsement from the Sheriffs of Illinois. The men and women in blue are the true heroes that hold the fabric of society together. I will continue to fight for those that keep us safe every day. Thank you for your endorsement! #backtheblue," Caulkins posted.
In an Aug. 25 Facebook post, the Sheriffs of Illinois PAC issued this statement: “The laws passed by our legislators are critically important to how Sheriffs and their offices protect the members of our community,” Chairman Dwight Baird (Kendall County Sheriff) said. “The legislators that have received the Sheriffs’ star recognize that importance, as indicated by votes they have taken and/or by the work they have done in their communities, We as Sheriffs have taken an oath that we do not take lightly – to serve citizens and these endorsements reflect policy makers that stand with us and support that oath.”
Last August, Caulkins blasted Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Democratic lawmakers after the shooting death of Chicago Police Officer Ella French. “Another tragedy as a result of the so-called ‘Criminal Justice Reform’ movement,” Caulkins posted on Facebook. “Officer French was murdered during a routine traffic stop. 11 CPD officers have been shot so far this year. How do the Democrats in the General Assembly and Gov. Pritzker justify the atmosphere of lawlessness they’ve created?”
Caulkins was first elected to the Illinois House in 2018. His legislative experience includes serving on the Public Utilities and Prescription Drug Affordability committees. Caulkins resides in Decatur.
