Village of Forsyth Public Library Commission met Sept. 14.

Minutes

Motion made by Pat Parr to accept the meeting minutes for the August 10, 2022 meeting. Seconded by Lisa Peck. Motion carried on voice vote; all members present voting yea.

Public Comment

None

Old Business

• 538 patrons registered for the 2022 Summer Reading Program. That is up from 2021. 50% completed their reading hours, which is a positive number. Steven handed out a sheet for the Summer Reading Programs stats which included the number of participants and cost per participant for each program. Total cost was $4,689.18.

• Goals were discussed for the Long Range Plan. The goals are based on the Standards for Illinois Public Libraries.

• A policy for filming may need to be created for FPL to prepare the staff.

New Business

• Per Capita Grant Requirement, Chapters 1 through 4 were discussed, Serving Our Public 4.0 Standards for Illinois Public Libraries.

• Updates to the library's Collection Development Policy were discussed. These updates will be voted on at the October meeting.

Librarian's Report

• The Librarian's Report was quickly discussed due to time restraints.

• September is Library card Sign-up Month.

• FPL will be part of the 4th Annual Library Crawl in October joining 123 other Illinois libraries.

• Marlee Matlin will be featured at the first Illinois Libraries Present Zoom Event September 14.

• Patron card registration as of August 31 includes 1444 adults and 168 juveniles. The August 2022 patron count is 2713, which is 186 more than August 2021. Circulation for August 2022 is 5261, which is 184 less than August 2021. Materials checked out by Non-Forsyth Patrons is 1887.

The next library commission meeting is scheduled for October 12, 2022. Lisa Peck moved to adjourn, Pat Parr seconded and the motion carried on voice vote; all members present voting yea.
