Village of Forsyth Public Library Commission met Oct 12.

Minutes

Motion made by Pat Parr to accept the meeting minutes for the September 14, 2022 meeting. Seconded by Mary Jane Linton. Motion carried on voice vote; all members present voting yea.

Old Business

Steven updated the Commission on the Long Range Plan. He is helping the Village of Forsyth update their Strategic Plan at this time. We will begin our update in 2023.

The changes to the Collection Development Policy were discussed. A motion to accept the Collection Development Policy with changes was made by Mary Jane Linton. Seconded by Ruth Wrigley Harvey. Motion carried on voice vote; all members voting yea.

New Business

Per Capita Grant Requirement, Chapters 5 through 8 were discussed, Serving Our Public 4.0 Standards for Illinois Public Libraries.

Librarian's Report

FPL had 20 new library card sign-ups for September. This is a great number for Library Card Sign-Up Month.

Jana Howe has replaced Marissa White as Youth Services Librarian due to Marissa leaving FPL. Pam Schmahl is now the Adult Services Librarian. Someone will be hired for her prior Library Technician position.

The 4th Annual Library Crawl began October 1st, with FPL joining 123 other Illinois libraries. FPL is planning "Nightmare on Elwood Street" on October 31 as a pre Trick or Treat gathering for families.

World Trade Press A to Z databases are now available. Patrons have remote access using their 14-digit library barcode number.

Jesmyn Ward will be featured at the Illinois Libraries Present Zoom Event October 12.

FPL has begun a weeding project to make collections more current and concise.

Patron card registration as of September 30 includes 1442 adults and 176 juveniles. The September 2022 patron count is 2,481 which is 269 more than September 2021. Circulation for September 2022 is 4,523 which is 299 less than September 2021. Materials checked out by Non- Forsyth Patrons is 2,015. Materials checked out by Forsyth patrons at other libraries is 210.
