Millikin Wrestling Moves Up in NWCA Rankings
The Millikin University wrestling team moved up in the Top 25 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) NCAA Division III rankings in Regular Season Poll #5 released on February 2, 2023.
Millikin is now ranked 17th in the NWCA Tournament Team Rankings and are 21st in the NWCA Dual Team Rankings.
Millikin completed its record season with a 10-6 record in dual matches. Next up for the Big Blue is the 2023 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships on February 9 at North Central College in Naperville. Millikin will be shooting for its fourth straight CCIW Tournament team title.
Two Millikin wrestlers are in the NWCA Individual national rankings. After winning the 32-team Pete Willson Invite, junior Zac Blasioli (Wood River, East Alton Wood River H.S.) moved up one spot and is now ranked second in the country at 125 with a 20-2 record. Freshman Nathan Callaway's (Aurora, Marmion Academy) 18-2 record has earned him a spot in rankings at
157 pounds where he is ranked ninth.
The NWCA team and individual rankings are voted on by a panel of Division III wrestling coaches from across the country.
