Village of Forsyth Public Library, Library Commission met Nov. 8.

Call to Order

Minutes 

Motion made by Mary Jo Rowley to accept the meeting minutes for the October 11, 2023 meeting.  Seconded by Ken Kirchner. Motion carried on voice vote; all members present voting yea. 

Public Comment 

None  

Old Business 

• Updates to FPL Security Cameras Policy were discussed. Motion was made by Ken Kirchner to  approve the Security Cameras Policy. Seconded by Lisa Peck. Motion carried on voice vote; all  members present voting yea. 

• Laura Reimer was approved by the Forsyth Village Board as our new Commission Member. • Melanie Weigel has been selected as the new Forsyth Library Director. Her first day will be  December 11, 2023. 

New Business 

• Chapters 9-13 of Serving Our Public 4.0; Standards for Illinois Public Libraries were discussed  to fulfill the 2023 per Capita Grant Requirements. The 2023 per Capita Grant Requirements  have been fulfilled.

Librarian’s Report 

• Jennifer Lawyer completed the Illinois Public Library Internet Survey. The findings are used to  better understand internet speeds and technology at public libraries. 

• Library Technician, Cheryl Pate, has completed the barcoding training required by IHLS. • FPL received a donation of $1000 from The Community Foundation of Macon County. • The FPL annual Halloween party was held Saturday, October 28. 73 children and 44 adults  attended the party. 

• Patron card registration as of October 31 includes 1,424 adults and 161 juveniles. The  October 2023 patron count is 2,595 which is 77 more than October 2022. Circulation for  October 2023 is 4,105 which is 118 less than October 2022. Materials checked out by Non Forsyth Patrons is 1,518. Materials checked out by Forsyth patrons at other libraries is not  currently available. 

Adjournment 

The December Commission meeting is cancelled. The next library commission meeting is scheduled for  January 10, 2024. Mary Jo Rowley moved to adjourn. Lisa Peck seconded. The motion carried on  voice vote; all members present voting yea.
