City of Sullivan City Council met Nov. 28.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to Order 

- Meeting called to order by: Ann Short 

- Meeting Location: ETML Event Room 

- Meeting Date: 11-28-2023 

- Time of Call to Order: 16:30 

2. Roll Call 

Officers in Attendance: Ann Short (President), Nancy Elder (Vice President), Mike McLaughlin (Treasurer) 

- Trustees in Attendance: Jennifer Love, Kathie Price 

- Trustees Absent: Ellen Feeler, Karen Reed, Kyle Price, Erin Wade 

- City Employees in Attendance: Michelle Nolen (Library Director), Mike Mossmen (City Mayor) 

- Public Visitors: None 

3. Review/Approve minutes of previous board meetings 

- Date of previous minutes: 09-22-23 (No October quorum) 

- Motion made to: Approve Minutes

4. Treasurer's Report:

5. Public forum acknowledgement: 

- Recognized Mayor Mike Mossman. We were asked to keep on top of any problems with the new roof so that it could be fixed wile under warranty. 

6. Librarian's Report 

- Despite overcast conditions, had a nice turnout (25) for Annular Eclipse on October 14th. 

- Had 17 participants for Home School 

- We are partnering with the United Way and bringing Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to Sullivan Library. There is enough funding for up to 200 children in Moultrie County. December 6th will be the kickoff and Mayor Mossman will be reading at the event, 

- Main circulation computer crashed and would not recover. The library replaced this computer and two others. 

- The library participated in Safe Trick or Treat in October. 

- The new transformer for the library's electrical needs was replaced and is now located outside of the building's enclosure. 

- The life-sized chess/checkerboard is being set up indoors for the winter months. 

- Library staff will be doing Dementia training on November 8th with public training on December 11th. 

- Library was closed on November 10th in observation of Veteran's Day and November 23rd through 24th for the Thanksgiving holiday. 

- Laura and Michelle participated in the Beacon's Staff Appreciation Day held on Wednesday 10-25-23 from 13:30 to 15:00. 

The library passed the required fire alarm inspection. 

- The library carpets were cleaned on Sunday the 29th of October. 

- "Take and Make" available next week. 

- "Zen Tangle" ornament class will be held on 12-19-23. 

- Craft day will be on 12-22-23 while Sullivan kids are out of school. 

- The library's Christmas Village is being put out next week. 

- Veteran's Day art contest winners were displayed in our cases from 11-13-23 through 11-27-23. 

- Planned event on December 6th ILP Lori Gottlieb. 

- Planned event on December 16th and 17th ILP The Nutcracker. 

- New One Book One Sullivan title is available. City Spies. 

- Michelle visited Hotchkiss Library in Sharon CT while on vacation.
