Regan Deering, the candidate for the 88th House District, has expressed her appreciation for the endorsement she received from the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). This endorsement stands as a testament to Deering's commitment to backing law enforcement and ensuring community safety in the 88th House District.
“I am honored to be endorsed by the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police,” Deering said on Facebook. “Every family deserves to live in a safe community without the fear of violent crime.”
“Today, Gov. Pritzker and the Democrat majority are handcuffing cops while releasing criminals, making us less safe. I’m proud to be the pro-police candidate and will never apologize for backing the blue.”
In her 2022 run for Congress, Deering had previously received an endorsement from the Illinois FOP. This continued partnership and trust between her and the law enforcement community highlight her stance on supporting law enforcement. This stance aligns with broader discussions on public safety and criminal justice policies. The endorsement from Illinois FOP underscores the importance of collaboration between elected officials and law enforcement in addressing and preventing crime.
According to Macon Reporter, Deering announced her bid for the Illinois statehouse in June. A former congressional candidate and current Mount Zion school board member, she stated that while she didn't initially pursue a political career, there is a demand for advocates of common sense conservatism. She added that Central Illinois needs fearless leaders committed to representing voters' values and interests in Springfield.
Deering aims to succeed State Rep. Dan Caulkins who has decided not to run for re-election. Her priorities include restoring parental rights in education and opposing curriculum agendas. The 88th House District that Deering hopes to represent includes McLean, Macon, Piatt, and DeWitt counties, as per the district map on Ballotpedia.
