The Illinois State Police have issued a warning to residents regarding a phone scam involving individuals impersonating ISP investigators. According to the announcement, "ISP special agents will not make cold calls requesting personal or financial information, or ask you to confirm personal or financial information."
In the event that someone receives a call from a person purporting to be an ISP investigator, the advice is clear. "Ask for the caller’s name, badge number, and phone number, and then hang up," the statement advises.
