Village of Lovington Board of Trustees met June 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Call to order: President Dennis Garmon called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance: President Garmon led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call found the following trustees to be present: Todd Hale, Mike Young, Keith Stanberry, April Daily and Andrea Wardrip. Absent: Brittany Bates. President Dennis Garmon and Clerk Alma Fair were also present.

Guests: Dave Schaab with Waste Management - just checking how things are going and was there anything we needed to tell him. Garmon said only thing is the holiday schedule, Mr. Schaab will get us the calendar. If there is anything that needs to be brought up contact him.

Mitchel & Steffanie Leinard is building a new house between Parker Hale’s house and Jenny Moore’s home. Mr. Leinard is asking what it would cost to have water and if possible, sewer installed. There is no problem with the board but will look into it and let them know.

Brian Buxton = The zoning board met on 5/25/24 regarding the new zoning ordinance. The board is recommending to let the county do the zoning for Lovington like they do for other area communities. The Village would need to contact the zoning board at the Courthouse. Daily spoke to the county zoning person and Garmon will contact her and it will be decided at the next board meeting.

A Motion was made by Daily and seconded by Young to accept the May 2024 invoices as presented.

2. Discussion and action May 13, 2024, Regular Meeting Minutes.

A Motion was made by Daily and seconded by Stanberry to approve the May 13, 2024, Regular Meeting minutes as presented.

3. Approval of May 13, 2024, Closed Session Minutes

A Motion was made by Daily and seconded by Wardrip to approve the May 13, 2024, Closed session minutes as presented.

1. Discussion and action May 2024 treasurer’s report

A Motion was made by Young and seconded by Hale to accept the May 2024 treasurer’s report.

Old Business:

1. Discussion & Action on if any update from our attorney on abandoned houses

No updates at this time. Garmon has been in contact with our Attorney.

New Business:

Meeting of “The Mayor & Commissioners of a municipality organized under article 4 of the Municipal Code Held to discuss matters, which relate solely to exercise their executive or administrative responsibilities.” 1. 5 ILCS 120-2 Sec.2 (C) (1) The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of Specific employees.

Solicitors were in town last week and they are back in town tonight.

Streets and Alleys – Mike Young

1. Report and action if needed

Gillis is contacting the person that does grinding on some of the roads.

Buildings and Grounds – April Daily

1. Report and action if needed

Daily plans to have Chris spray some weeds. – Tree removal estimate has been received. Sidewalks have been done around town.

Insurance – Andrea Wardrip

1. Report and action if needed

Went over the reports from IML Insurance.

Presidents Report – Dennis Garmon

1. Report and action if needed

Presented a quote for new camera’s for the park and putting those camera’s at the Street garage.

Park cost $5682

Village Hall $1508

Street Garage $1230

Grand total $8420

50% down remainer at completion

A Motion was made by Young and seconded by Hale to accept the quote from Stanberry Teck LLC as presented at a total cost of $8420.
