Village of Warrensburg Village Board met Sept. 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER: Acting Village President Hackl called the meeting to order at the Warrensburg Village Hall on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 5:30 p.m., reminding everyone the meeting was being recorded.

ROLL CALL: Present: Acting Village President Hackl, Trustees Fisher and K. Hood.

Also present were Chief Wheeler, DPW Allen, Attorney Jankowicz & VAC Booth

Absent: Trustees Netherton, Freeman and P. Hood.

MAYOR’S COMMENTS: AVP Hackl referred to Attorney Jankowicz, who stated that there were not enough Trustees present to secure a quorum vote, so the Board would hear public comments but not discuss anything from the agenda that required a vote.

AVP Hackl stated that our Building Inspector, Jim Stapleton, is having health issues and the Board will need to begin seeking his replacement.

AVP Hackl also stated that the Cancun restaurant will be re-opening in about 4 weeks.

Attorney Jankowicz suggested that the Board appoint a new Chair for the Finance Committee as soon as possible. He also briefly discussed the 121 Coffee Run; they will have to repay the TIF money that they were given. All options will be discussed at the next meeting.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: Cindy Hundley requested that the Village approve the one Cornfest bill, a deposit securing a Band for next year. She said that the check needed to be copied and emailed as soon as possible as the Band was waiting for it. Chief Wheeler expressed that there were other bills that also needed to be paid in a timely manner so it was agreed that VAC Booth would email the bills and transfer sheet to all Trustees for all of the bills to be approved for payment.

Jean Mayfield expressed her concern over Village residents burning items other than leaves that shouldn’t be burnt and/or left smoldering for days. She asked that residents be reminded of the conditions of the Ordinance regarding burning. Chief Wheeler has answered numerous calls and agreed that there needs to be more public awareness regarding the issue. It was determined that an informative message regarding the Village’s open burning ordinance would be in the next Newsletter.

Harold Hawkins asked about the soon-to-be vacant Trustee seat and why the notice in the Newsletter said that it wouldn’t be filled until April. AVP Hackl corrected him that the notice was regarding the 3 Trustee seats that will be open during the 2025 Consolidated Election. The newly vacant spot needs to be filled asap and the Village is accepting letters of interest now. The Board will vote on the replacement when they have enough candidates.

The next regular meeting will be on Monday, September 15, 2024 @ 5:30 PM.
