FOIA Request to Sullivan City Council Regarding Information on Council Members on October 15, 2024.
In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Macon Reporter have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Sullivan City Council.
Our request specifically asks for a list of all council members with the following fields: Name, Title, Year Appointed, Term (2 or 4 years), and Term Expire Date. We believe that access to this information is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities as journalists.
Our mission includes holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As such, we requested these records preferably in an electronic format for ease of access and dissemination.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver for this information under our eligibility as media professionals.
We await the response from Sullivan City Council and will keep our readers updated with any developments.
