Village of Lovington Board of Trustees met Aug. 11.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
Call to order: President Brittany Bates called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance: President Bates led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call found the following trustees to be present: Andrea Wardrip, Todd Hale, Harold White, Keith Stanberry, Chrissy Giorgi and April Daily. President Brittany Bates and Clerk Donyell Morgan were also present.
Guests: Dennis Garmon, Brian Buxton, Dena Norris and Linda Patrick
Dennis Garmon representing Parks and Events from the Mapping Group, they have purchased 3 dog waste stations, they are asking for permission to have them placed in the park, the village workers will decide where to place them and if they want the waste receptacles on the stations. Dennis asked about keeping the bathroom doors unlocked at the park during the day. Dennis also asked if the Village would consider contacting the school district about the purchase of the old high school property for community use. Dena Norris wishes to speak on behalf of the Recreation Committee from the Mapping Group, they are collecting bids for concrete sidewalks to connect at the park, the board will get in contact with our attorney to see what can be done. Dena is also on the Coordinating Council and would like to invite everyone to come to the Mapping Meeting September 6, 2025 @ 4:30 at the Lovington Grade School. Dena also stated that they are looking into having a sidewalk put in from Dollar General to State Street.

Discussion and Action on Ordinance to Amend Chapter 40, Article III- Zoning Regulations of the Code of Ordinances of the Village of Lovington, Moultrie County, Illinois A Motion was made by Giorgi and seconded by Stanberry to approve Ordinance 2025-09- Zoning Regulations of the Code of Ordinances.

3. Discussion and Action on Purchase of a Street Salt Spreader
A Motion was made by Hale and seconded by Wardrip to approve the purchase of the Street Salt Spreader from Foremost Truck and Trailer Specialists, for $8,709.38 shipping included. YEA: Hale, White, Stanberry, Giorgi, Daily

Department Reports
Presidents Report – Brittany will have a table out at the Lovington Grade School on 8/12 for Open House, Village of Lovington brochures have been made.
Water & Sewer Report – Repaired 2 water mains, will be building a new room at the water plant for chemical separation. Put a new meter line in.
Park and Special Projects – Park Board will be having a meeting this week regarding Movie night at the park as well as planning Halloween activities.
Police –. Police Department had a very busy July; Officer Hoyt was able to work more hours in July. Significant progress has been made in addressing nuisance properties in the last month.
Streets and Alleys – Road Oiling completed. Traffic striping to be done in the spring. Sidewalk replacement is complete. Damaged road signs have been changed; new speed limit signs have been ordered. On-going Projects include New Welcome to Lovington sign at Rt 32 & Rt 133, Finish grading & rocking alleys, new Village Hall sign installed & the Panther placed in front of VH, Stump Grinding and hanging of more Military Signs.
Buildings and Grounds – Stump grinding will be starting soon; stump grinder is running fine.
Insurance – Andrea will be speaking to our Insurance into the Women’s Working Group using the park for a Fall Festival.
