Central Illinoisans call Lisa Madigan departure good news

Central Illinois residents took expressed their thoughts on Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s decision to not seek re-election to a fifth term by posting on WAND TV's Facebook page recently.

“Best news I heard all day,” Tim Drew posted 

“A Madigan gone…to good to be true,” Barbara Voccia wrote.

“Another one deserting a sinking ship," Jay Carlson commented. "This resource is all taped out,” 

Several respondents called for Madigan's father, House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago), to also call it quits.

“If only daddy would do the same,” Kathy Gregg Acton posted.

“I think overall Lisa is done a good job however her father is clouding the Madigan name," Dan Richardson wrote. "I think she sees the handwriting on the wall it’s time for her at least to go."

Some even expressed concern over what her next move might be.

“Something’s up,” Steve Booker speculated. “This family never walked away from all this money and privilege and isn’t going to now!”

“I’m thinking Lisa Madigan will run for governor and daddio will make sure she gets in there,” Sharon Hardy Trudeau posted.

“I hope she does run for governor," Jt Vaughn posted. "May as well let this ship sink and get it over with. There’s no fixing this state until we completely fail. Let her in and get it over with."

Madigan has been the attorney general for 14 years. Her term expire in January 2019.
