State Representative Regan Deering (R-Decatur) has spoken out against House Resolution 504, which condemns the Trump Administration’s ‘Operation Midway Blitz’. The resolution was discussed on the House Floor in Springfield, Illinois.
Deering addressed criticisms from Democratic colleagues regarding the Trump Administration and law enforcement. “While my colleagues on the other side of the aisle continue to criticize the Trump Administration and law enforcement, I’d like to clear up some seeming misunderstandings as to how we got here, and the real reason 550,000 illegal immigrants came to reside Illinois in the first place,” Deering said. “Thanks to President Biden’s lawlessness, our border was opened to a flood of millions of illegal immigrants. Illinois, with its relaxed Sanctuary State policies, acted as a magnet to these illegal immigrants, costing taxpaying citizens billions.”
The resolution begins by discussing due process but then criticizes the Trump Administration’s efforts regarding immigration enforcement in Illinois through ‘Operation Midway Blitz’. According to Deering, the operation led to the capture and deportation of thousands of criminal illegal aliens charged with serious crimes.
“We shouldn’t need our federal government to step in and enforce the law in Illinois, but politicians who lead our state and largest city are busier demonizing law enforcement and inciting violence against them, rather than restoring and respecting the rule of law,” Deering continued. “The bottom line is this: Federal law enforcement officers are doing their job—removing criminal illegals from our state.”
House Resolution 504 was among several resolutions debated on the House Floor, including calls for Secretary Kennedy’s resignation and allegations regarding media control by the Trump Administration.
“To my colleagues, Governor Pritzker, and Mayor Johnson: we all have a job to do. We took an oath to serve the constituents of Illinois, and yet some of you are preoccupied with giving speeches and attacking the Trump Administration, while you should be working to repeal the TRUST Act and end our disastrous Sanctuary State laws. Let’s put Illinois citizens first,” Deering concluded.
Deering was elected as a Republican representative for Illinois’ 88th House District in 2025, succeeding Dan Caulkins.
