Analysis: Decatur pays $6.02 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Decatur Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84 percent of the $5,977,159 the Decatur Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $6.02 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Macon Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Decatur contributed $5,023,785 to the fund, which saw a $849,033 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $833,972, or 14 percent, in 2016. Another $119,402 came from other unspecified sources.
