Report: Meridian spent $8,851 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Meridian Community Unit School District 15 is up 10 percent from five years ago, according to a Macon Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Macon County school district spent $8,016 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,851 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1109 to 992.

Meridian's spending in 2016-17 was 32 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
