Long Creek FPD responds to 33 fires in 2017

Long Creek Fire Protection District responded to 59 calls in 2017 - 11.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Long Creek included 33 fires - 23 structure fires, two vehicle fires and eight other fires.

In all, the department saw $122,100 in fire loss - or about $3,700 per fire.

The department also received 26 false calls.

The Long Creek Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $434,011 in 2017.

The Long Creek FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has two active employees and one retired or inactive employee, was $4,590 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $219 for every fire in 2016.
