HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital is organizing an event called Think Pink: A Women’s Health Event on Thursday, October 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event will take place at The Hostetler, a new venue located at 241 N. Main St. in downtown Decatur.

The event is free and open to the community. It will focus on women’s health and breast cancer awareness. Two local leaders will speak at the event: Dr. Nada Lygrisse, DO, of Lakeshore OB/GYN, and Lori Kerans, Vice President for Athletics and Community Engagement at Millikin University.

Dr. Lygrisse is expected to discuss preventive care and the importance of early detection in breast cancer. “When it comes to breast cancer, knowledge truly is power,” said Dr. Lygrisse. “Regular screenings and understanding your risk factors are essential steps every woman can take to protect her health. Early detection not only saves lives, it gives women more options, more hope and more time.”

Lori Kerans will address the importance of women supporting each other in their health journeys. “Events like this remind us that women are at our best when we lift each other up,” said Kerans. “Together, we can build a stronger, healthier community by encouraging one another to prioritize wellness and take proactive steps for our health.”

The event will include refreshments, giveaways, and opportunities for attendees to connect while promoting awareness of women’s health and breast cancer prevention.

Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by October 20 by calling 217-464-7665, as space is limited.
