Okaw Valley Community Unit School District 302 students suspended, expelled 16 times in a single school year

Okaw Valley Community Unit School District 302 reported one expulsions and 15 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 16 students during the year. That equates to 3.3 percent of the 487 students enrolled.

Students were expelled for one incident with drugs.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes seven incidents. There were one incidents of unspecified reasons. For six incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes five incidents. There were one incidents of drugs. For four incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
