Ted Dabrowski, a candidate for governor of Illinois, has announced his intention to prioritize the restoration of literacy and numeracy in the state's education system. He highlighted low proficiency levels in districts such as Decatur School District 61. Dabrowski made this statement during the Restore Our Constitution meeting at the Decatur Conference Center on October 28, 2025.
"I've been fighting to bring literacy and numeracy back to Illinois classrooms for over 15 years," said Dabrowski, Gubernatorial candidate. "My passion to fix education comes from looking at the results of school districts like Decatur SD 61, where just 1 in 10 students could read at grade level in 2024. Similar results appear in cities across the state, from Rockford to Waukegan to Mt. Vernon, and it's shameful Gov. Pritzker has done nothing about them."
According to their website, the Restore Our Constitution gathering in Decatur featured civic and faith-based presenters who discussed topics including parental rights, school culture, and constitutional governance. The event took place at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel, a venue known for hosting community meetings and advocacy programs in Central Illinois. The meeting served as a grassroots platform for policy discussions focused on education as the 2026 gubernatorial election cycle gains momentum in downstate counties like Macon and its surrounding areas.
Dabrowski is a conservative policy analyst and former president of Wirepoints. Prior to his gubernatorial campaign, he worked on data-driven reforms related to pensions, taxes, and K–12 educational outcomes. He also held positions as spokesman and vice president of policy at the Illinois Policy Institute. Additionally, Dabrowski has experience in private-sector management from his leadership roles at Citibank in Mexico and Poland.
