Maroa Forsyth Community Unit School District 2 students suspended 31 times in a single school year

Maroa Forsyth Community Unit School District 2 reported 31 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 31 students during the year. That equates to 2.6 percent of the 1,207 students enrolled.

Of the 21 in-school suspensions, all were given to boys, including 10 elementary or middle schoolers and 11 high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 21 incidents. For 13 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 10 incidents. For five incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
