City of Clinton Council met July 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Minutes of the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Clinton, Illinois in session in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Monday, July 2, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Roger Cyrulik, presiding. On roll call, Commissioners Crang, Wise, Ballenger and Edmunds were present.

Written motion was made by Commissioner Wise and seconded by Commissioner Crang that the minutes of the regular meeting of June 18, 2018 be approved as submitted. On roll call vote, Commissioners Wise, Ballenger, Edmunds, Crang and Mayor Cyrulik voted “Yes”.

The bills and payroll were read.

Written motion was made by Commissioner Edmunds and seconded by Commissioner Ballenger that the bills and payroll be allowed as read and the Clerk be instructed to issue warrants on the Treasurer for the several amounts. On roll call vote, Commissioners Ballenger, Edmunds, Crang, Wise and Mayor Cyrulik voted “Yes”.

PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS

None

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Mayor Cyrulik wished everyone a safe 4th of July and hoped they would attend the activities on the Square starting with a breakfast at 8:00 a.m. served by the Fire and Police Departments and Kiwanis will be serving hot dogs for lunch along with our own Police Chief and Fire Chief in the Dunk Tank.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STREETS & PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS

Commissioner Crang reported she has an item to be put On File later in the meeting regarding Summer Maintenance and that Canadian National Railroad will be working on the crossing on N. Madison St. by Save-A-Lot and it will be closed starting July 16th for a week. She also stated there was a good crowd for the first summer concert on the Square.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC PROPERTY

Commissioner Wise reported the water meter replacement program is progressing and they are doing a good job and Evergreen FS started cleaning out the lagoons at the Water Treatment Plant.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY

Commissioner Ballenger reported the Fire Chief has checked three (3) sites for having fireworks displays and signed off on the permits. He urged everyone to be safe.

REPORT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTS & FINANCES

Commissioner Edmunds reported the Sales Tax Income was $30,000 less than what the City had budgeted and with Walmart closing the City anticipates a significant impact on the sales tax and he is asking all the departments to hold off on capital expenditures and any unnecessary type of expenditures until the City figures out what is going to happen.

ADJOURNMENT

With no further business to come before the Council, a motion was made by Commissioner Ballenger and seconded by Commissioner Crang to adjourn the meeting. On roll call vote, Commissioners Edmunds, Crang, Wise, Ballenger and Mayor Cyrulik voted “Yes”.
