Argenta-Oreana Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Oct. 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Community Unit School District Number 1, Macon and DeWitt Counties, Illinois, (Argenta-Oreana Community Unit School District No. 1) convened on October 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Argenta- Oreana Middle School/High School Library at 500 North Main Street, Argenta, Illinois pursuant to notice of regular meeting having been given in due form of law Todd Armstrong, President, in the Chair, and with a legal quorum as follows: Summer Boyd, Dick Logue, Dan Miller (left at 6:08 p.m.), Lori Sprague, Rory Tipsword, and Todd Armstrong. Also present: Damian Jones, Superintendent; Sean German, Principal; Patrick Blair, Principal; Amanda Ryder, Principal; and Michael Williams, Assistant Principal.

Student Recognition occurred. Comments from staff occurred. Administrative reports were presented.

Rory Tipsword/Summer Boyd, second, made a motion at 6:25 p.m. to enter closed session pursuant to the Open Meetings ACT – 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), which permits a closed session to consider the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal or specific certified and/or non-certified employee(s) of the public body. The roll vote: Summer Boyd-yes; Dick Logue-yes; Lori Sprague-yes; Rory Tipsword-yes; and Todd Armstrong- yes.

Rory Tipsword/Summer Boyd, second, made a motion to reconvene the regular meeting at 6:38 p.m. The roll vote: Summer Boyd-yes; Dick Logue-yes; Lori Sprague-yes; Rory Tipsword-yes; and Todd Armstrong-yes.

Rory Tipsword/Summer Boyd, second, made a motion to approve the September 10, 2018 Regular Meeting Minutes as proposed. The roll vote: Summer Boyd-yes; Dick Logue-yes; Lori Sprague-yes; Rory Tipsword-yes; and Todd Armstrong-yes.

Rory Tipsword/Summer Boyd, second, made a motion to approve payroll and bills. The roll vote: Summer Boyd-yes; Dick Logue-yes; Lori Sprague-yes; Rory Tipsword-yes; and Todd Armstrong-yes.

Rory Tipsword/Summer Boyd, second, made a motion to hire Marleah McKinney as JV Scholastic Bowl Coach; Jeff Hollon as Head Softball Coach; Alexa Jones as JH Assistant Volleyball Coach; and Amanda Ryder as Elementary School PBIS Internal Coach. The roll vote: Summer Boyd-yes; Dick Logue-yes; Lori Sprague-yes; Rory Tipsword-yes; and Todd Armstrong-yes.

Moved agenda item #17 to be next item.

Dick Logue/Summer Boyd, second, made a motion to approve the sports CO-OP’s with LSA and Decatur Christian as presented by Mr Williams. The roll vote: Summer Boyd-yes; Dick Logue-yes; Lori Sprague-yes; Rory Tipsword-yes; and Todd Armstrong-yes.

Levy information was presented.

Dick Logue/Lori Sprague, second, made a motion to approve the Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Argenta for Snow Removal as presented. The roll vote: Summer Boyd-yes; Dick Logue-yes; Lori Sprague-yes; Rory Tipsword-yes; and Todd Armstrong-yes.

Rory Tipsword/Summer Boyd, second, made a motion to approve the Intergovernmental Agreement with

Whitemore Road District for Snow Removal as presented. The roll vote: Summer Boyd-yes; Dick Logue-yes; Lori Sprague-yes; Rory Tipsword-yes; and Todd Armstrong-yes.

Rory Tipsword/Dick Logue, second, made a motion to approve the Annual Financial Report as presented. The roll vote: Summer Boyd-yes; Dick Logue-yes; Lori Sprague-yes; Rory Tipsword-yes; and Todd Armstrong-yes.

First reading of board policies and revisions occurred.
