Decatur home prices fall in the third quarter of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the third quarter of 2017 in Decatur fell by $2,100 while total sales decreased by 14.9%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through September of 2017, there were 269 homes sold, with a median sale price of $64,900 - a 3.1% decrease over the $67,000 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 316 homes sold in Decatur in the third quarter of 2016.

The median sales tax in Decatur for 2017 was $1,336.43. In 2016, the median sales tax was $1,351. This marks an decrease of 1.1%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 2.1%.
