President Todd Garner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
President Garner appointed Kristi Niles as Secretary Pro-Tem in the absence of Secretary Dave Brandon.
Members present were: Todd Garner, John Flora, Kristi Niles, Jeffrey Sams, Jerry Birkey. Absent: Nathan Brock, Dave Brandon
The Administration present consisted of Dr. Travis R. Roundcount, Superintendent of Schools; Brian Rhoades, Associate Superintendent; Gary Gruen, Mt. Zion Grade School Principal; Randy Thacker, Mt. Zion Intermediate School Principal; Julie Marquardt, Mt. Zion Jr. High School Principal; Ben Davis, District Athletic Director.
The Pledge of Allegiance was cited by those present and led by Mt. Zion Grade School 3rd grade students: Kiersten Schultz and Gabriel Smith from Mrs. Logue’s class, Donovan Martin and Finnley Corrigan from Mrs. Guasco’s class, and Joshua Sarver and Ella Himanga from Mrs. Schorfheide’s class.
The Regular Meeting minutes of February 19, 2019 were approved as presented by general consent.
The Executive Session Meeting minutes of February 19, 2019 were approved as presented by general consent.
There were no visitor communications requests.
Superintendent Roundcount recognized Mr. Gary Gruen, Mt. Zion Grade School Principal as a presenter. Mr. Gruen introduced Amy Ensign, a representative from the American Heart Association, who recognized and thanked Mt. Zion Grade School students and families for raising $14,462.40 during the Jump Rope For Heart Campaign. Mt. Zion Grade School was praised for being the top-earner within the Mt. Zion School District. Mr. Gruen then introduced Elementary Teacher, Mrs. Kelly Wilson, who shared a presentation and video highlighting the various STEM activities being incorporated into the classrooms at Mt. Zion Grade School.

Dr Roundcount announced that the Retiree Reception to recognize 2018-2019 School District retirees would be held just before the next regular Board of Education Meeting. President Garner announced Tuesday, April 30, 2019, 7 p.m., as the next regular meeting of the Board of Education, to be held at the District Office, 1595 W. Main St., Mt. Zion, IL 62549. The Board of Education meeting was adjourned by general consent at 10:40 p.m.
