The data shows that 84 men and eight women were released in Decatur. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 35. The youngest parolee is a 20-year-old man sentenced for property crimes in 2018, and the oldest is a 59-year-old man sentenced for crimes against a person in 2015.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest is Shannon L. Garry. He was convicted of crimes involving one or more weapons in 2009 when he was 30 years old. He is now 40.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
