REED FUNERAL HOME, LTD: Jeffrey D. Muzzy

Reed Funeral Home, Ltd recently issued the following announcement.

Jeffrey D. Muzzy, 47, of Mattoon, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2020 in Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Celebration of Life Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with Pastor Ted Hartley officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday. Memorials are suggested to the Sarah Lynn Muzzy Education Fund. Online condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.

Jeffrey was born January 31, 1973 in St. Petersburg, Florida. He grew up in Pinellas Park, Florida, moving to Bethany, Illinois in 1990. He was a graduate of the Bethany High School class of 1991. He later attended Lake Land College and earned a degree from Eastern Illinois University in Business Administration. Jeffrey married Jennifer Brown on July 28, 2001 in New Hampton, Iowa. They had a daughter, Sarah, in 2008.

Jeff worked in manufacturing most of his career, serving as a line operator at RR Donnelly & Sons, a Production Supervisor at Mattoon Precision, Continuous Improvement Manager, MES and SAP Team Manager at Hitachi Metals America, and as a consultant for his own business, UD Solutions, in which he did Project Management, Manufacturing Automation, and Analysis. He most recently was employed as a Project Manager for Versatech in Effingham. During his career he excelled in troubleshooting, problem solving, and developing projects with quality and efficiency. He took pride in his strong work ethic, but his greatest satisfaction was in building teams.

Being an avid sports fan, Jeffrey passionately followed the Florida Gators and the Chicago Cubs along with several other teams. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, attending concerts, and numerous trips to Florida. Jeff especially valued spending time with his daughter and all of his family and friends, who enjoyed his stories, sense of humor, and adventuresome spirit.

Surviving are his wife Jennifer of Mattoon; daughter Sarah Lynn Muzzy of Mattoon; parents Terry and Sharon Muzzy of Bethany; mother- and father-in-law Larry and Phyllis Brown of New Hampton, Iowa; brother Andrew (Cindy) Muzzy and their children Ava and Evan Muzzy of Lithia, Florida; step brother Brad (Melissa) Holland of Sullivan and their children April (Isaac) Wrigley, Cody Holland, Kurtis (Paige) Holland and Ally Dingman; step sister Michelle (Jefrey) Liddiard of Sullivan and their children Joshua (Kirstin) Liddiard, Kirby (C.J.) Swinehart and Dylan (Anneliesse) Liddiard; brother-in-law Del Brown of New Hampton, Iowa; sister-in-law Nicole Brown (Nick First) and their children Sophia First and Liam First of Parkersburg, Iowa; and several great-nieces and nephews.
