There were 66 offenders convicted of drug crimes released on parole in Decatur during 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Macon Reporter.

The data shows that 55 men and 11 women were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for drug crimes, three were veterans, and the median age was 36. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old woman sentenced in 2017, and the oldest was a 61-year-old woman sentenced in 2018.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Marcellious A. Blue. He was convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2011 when he was 37 years old. He is now 46.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
